In our permanent exhibition you’re able to experience Norwegian popular music from 1904 until present through audio, video and interactive images.
Music, instruments, video clips and technological artefacts make up our historic “pop-walk”, which over two floors paints a vast historic portrait that is Norwegian popular music history. It offers a wider perspective on the common misconception that popular music is purely a matter of pop and rock-genres , showing elements of everything from cabaret and folk, through to punk and hip hop. Did you know for example, that cabaret and jazz-music were the genres most commonly enjoyed by youngsters in the 1930’s?
At the end of our historic walk, you’ll find several interactivef installations. Read more about them here.
On the top floor, you’ll find further historic and technological artefacts which have been significant in shaping the phenomenon which we now call popular music.
